Gary and Sharon Young were in Ireland where they visited the Royal Cork Yacht Club, the oldest yacht club in the world. It was started by William Obrien, the 26 year old great grandson of King Charles II of England. In 1720, young William and five of his friends got together for various yachting activities on a regular basis and called their club, "The Water Club of the Harbour of Cork", known today as "The Royal Cork Yacht Club". Gary and Sharon were greeted very warmly, served warm tea and crumpets, and given a burgee in exchange for one from the Seagate Yacht Club. The manager said that anyone from the Seagate Yacht Club is invited to visit any time and they look forward to displaying our burgee in the dining room of the Royal Cork Yacht Club.

Les Kelly and Bob & Linda Axel were in Cuba, legally, on a tour as part of a religious and cultural experience there. While the building housed the Cienfuegos Yacht Club, until the Cuban revolution, the CYC no longer exists. Foreign boaters regularly tie up at the remaining docks and the restaurant and bar still serve food and drink!
